Termini station is the central train station of Rome. It is connected to the main airports (FCO/CIA) as well as both Metro Line A and Line B
From and to the airports
Leonardo da Vinci (FCO) airport – Termini station
The quickest way to the city center is the non-stop train Leonardo Express. The train leaves every 15 minutes, travel time is approx. 30 minutes. Tickers can be purchased online on the Trenitalia website.
Ciampino (CIA) airport – Termini station
There are several airport buses that connect the Ciampino airport to Termini station. We recommend the Ciampino Airlink service. Travel time is approx. 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on all Trenitalia sales channels. For more information, visit the Atral website.
Metro and Buses
Tickets for public transportation (both Bus and Metro) can be purchased from every “Tabacchi” shops (tobacconists), newsstands, or vending machines at Metro stations.
Regular tickets (€1.50) are valid for 100 minutes from first activation. They allow for a single Metro ride, but are valid for unlimited use for trams and buses, as long as it’s within the 100-minute time from activation.
Depending on your length of stay, 24h (€7), 48h (€12.50), 72h (€18), or weekly (€24) tickets are also available.
Metro/bus tickets cannot be purchased on board, so please make sure to get your tickets in advance.
Remember to validate your ticket at every metro station and everytime you get on a bus. Not validating your ticket is the same as not having one and you are risking a €50-100 fine. If the ticket validation machine isn’t working, use a pen and write the date and time you got on the bus, this way you won’t risk any fine.
Additionally, you can also use the your contactless credit, debit, or prepaid card, or NFC-enabled devices (smartphones, smartwatches, wearables, etc.) at the entrance of each Metro station or when boarding on buses.
